The 4th of my Northern Irish Legend Portraits is Belfast Born, Boxing Legend Carl Frampton MBE.
“Carl Frampton MBE (born 21 February 1987) is a former professional boxer from Northern Ireland who competed from 2009 to 2021. He is a former two-weight world champion, having held the WBA (Unified) and IBF super-bantamweight titles between 2014 and 2016, and the WBA (Super) featherweight title from 2016 to 2017. He also held the WBO interim featherweight title in 2018. At regional level, he held the European and Commonwealth super-bantamweight titles between 2011 and 2014."

‘FRAMPTON’, measuring 122cm x 81cm this piece was so much fun to create. From the start I shared the post with Frampton on Twitter, he give me support which pushed me on to create my best work.
Carl Frampton is a much loved sports personality in Northern Ireland. I remember regularly getting together with friends to cheer him on in his fights. He was always NIs golden boy as fans travelled the world to see him in his glory. I knew I was going to do this piece justice from the reference picture. It’s a moody shot, with the face over exposed and T-shirt fading into the background. He has strong features which were easy and fun to draw/ paint. His stubble took a time but I was chuffed with how it turned out. Finished piece = awesome

Roughly whitewashed a board
Threw down some guidelines
Applied my 1st coat of Tin awesomeness
Brought the detail back through with acrylic pen
Applied the ‘Darkness’ 😵💫
